Davis Cup in Malmö-The aftermath

As a result of the Sweden-Israel Davis Cup Tie in Malmö being closed to the public by the local authorities, the city is now banned from hosting Davis Cup ties for five years. The Swedish Tennis Federation will also have to pay a fine. Since the closing of the tie to the public was decided by the local authorities, one would have thought that they would have the common courtesy to also fork up the bill, but no dice.

Malmö's strong man, Ilmar Reepalu, of course refuses as he seems bent on embarrassing Malmö even more in the eyes of the civilized world, or maybe it is part a scheme to attract more Islamists to come and settle in the city which already has a 32% Muslim population. He will be OK with that as long as they vote for him.

Saudi childbride not newsworthy in Sweden

CNN reports that a Saudi sharia judge refused to annul the marriage of a Saudi child bride who was married off by her debt ridden father in lieu of payment. As of the 13th of April, 2009 this news article ranked as number 6 among the top reads on CNN International's website. I first read it on the 12th.

Due to it's popularity this piece of news should be something that most news media in Sweden would like to report on, but when you look at the top Swedish news websites you will not find a single word. One can't help but wonder if The Fourth Estate prioritizes religious sensitivities over their actual job. As a Swedish tax payer I help financing traditional media who get subsidies from the government. It is in public interest that we have a diverse press, or so the reasoning goes. A diverse press that is politically correct to a fault it appears.

The rioting continues in Malmö

Media in other parts of the world have now picked up on the rioting in Malmö. Verdens Gang in Norway,Euronews,Fox News,BBC, and Danish Jyllandsposten have news articles about the subject. Unfortunately none of the above articles contain any in depth analysis explaining why the rioting occurs in Malmö. That's a shame.

Back in the 60s Malmö was a leading center for shipbuilding. The city was growing rapidly with immigration from southern Europe and other parts of Sweden providing recruits for the city's rapidly growing work force. But as competition from shipyards in Japan and Korea became too stiff, the shipbuilders were forced to lay off most of the workers although not before the national government squandered billions on a hairbrained scheme which consisted of buying the dockyards industrial output. Needless to say this was a costly disaster.

As unemployment rose, the city's population actually shrunk, although it still remained Sweden's third largest. Since there were no jobs, apartments were easily available, especially in outlying areas like Rosengård which originally had been designed to house dockyard workers. Instead the cheap housing in Rosengård now attracted immigrants from the Middle East claiming refugee status.

As it turned out these new immigrants were not as willing to integrate into Swedish society as the ones that preceded them, instead they preferred to recreate a piece of the Middle East in Scania, complete with basement mosques preaching wahabism and moral guardians cautioning women to wear the abaya.

Why was this allowed to happen? One of the main reasons was the consensus that any debate regarding problems caused by immigration equaled racism. Another cause was the willingness of the Swedish government to provide generous benefits to jobless immigrants. Generous benefits meant that the poorly educated newcomers lacked the motivation to move where they could actually find the low-paying jobs that they were qualified for. Another problem was the fact that most of the immigrants from the Middle East also lacked the skills needed to succeed in a workplace where the industrial worker was replaced by the knowledge worker. Generous immigration laws combined with generous benefits helped create a Muslim underclass in Malmö, which by far and large voted for the social democrats that paid them their allowance.

The fact is that, due to the symbiotic relationship described above, the demonstrations and the rioting have the tacit support of the leftist dominated municipal authorities who as usual are trying to curry favor with the city's ever-growing Muslim population. Citing security concerns they closed the Davis Cup tie to the public even though local police said they were perfectly capable of maintaining order.

Now that Malmö has broken off diplomatic relations with Israel, can we also expect sharia laws any time soon? Is it not time that we ban ungodly activities such as sex ed, pubs, the teaching of Darwinism and allowing women to leave their houses without a close male relative escorting them? And don't forget music, that is bad too, the only sound that should be heard is the muezzin calling the faithful to prayer.

Rioting in Malmö

An unholy alliance of Muslims, Nazis and Anarchists is at the time of writing trying to stop a Davis Cup tie between Sweden and Israel in Malmö. Defeatist dhimmi politicians have already closed the game to the public but this is not enough to appease the extremists who want to stop the sporting event from taking place at all.

It seems as if the police is managing to hold the mob back, but it is not unreasonable to assume that the rioters will turn to softer targets such as the Jewish cemetery in Malmö, Jewish owned businesses, or symbols of "imperialism" such as McDonalds instead.

And so it begins....

The city of Malmö looks set for a weekend of rioting and protests as Sweden's Davis Cup team is getting ready to play Israel in a tie. The local authorities has already closed the sports event to the public but this is not enough to satisfy Islamists, Nazis and Leftists who want to stop the tie altogether. The Local has an article in English about the protests.

The Leftist group AFA, the unofficial armed wing of the reformed Swedish Communists and the Green Party, is the main driving force behind the protests together with Islamist immigrants and second generation immigrants from the city's large Muslim Arab community. The Swedish government should feel embarrassed for letting extremists have their way but will probably just try to ignore or gloss over any rioting.

No tie in Stockholm

The hope of a Davis Cup tie open to the general public did not last long,I guess the authorities in Stockholm folded under pressure from the Islamists and the extreme left. I have previously posted about this tie.

Stockholm wants to host Davis Cup tie

According to Swedish Channel 4 local authorities in Stockholm now declare their willingness to host a Davis Cup tie between Sweden and Israel which will be open to the public. The Swedish Tennis Federation and the Davis Cup team are of course delighted, and so am I. That would really show the spineless Hamas appeasers in Malmö!

The closed-door Davis Cup Tie

A Davis Cup tie between Sweden and Israel has been closed to spectators by local Swedish authorities. This should come as no surprise for those of you who follow what is going on in Malmö.

For the rest of you, here's a quick run-down:

Malmö, Sweden's third biggest city, has a growing and not so well integrated muslim immigrant population. The city is run by a coalition of political parties consisting of social democrats, former communists, and left-leaning environmentalists.

The social democrats are citing the security risk as the reason for closing the doors to the Sweden Israel Davis Cup Tie, but according to spokespersons for the former communists, with whom the social democrats share power in Malmö, the reason is Israel's alleged human rights violations in Gaza.

According to Sweden's Channel 8, the Malmö police claims it would have no problems guaranteeing the security at the tie (Judging by the fact that they weren't able to protect a pro-Israel demonstration against an angry mob of muslim immigrants and left-wing extremists earlier this year, I would not implicitly trust them.). But if we are assuming that the authorities trust the ability of the police to enforce the law, this only leaves us with one alternative. Apparently the social democrats are speaking with a forked tongue. Behold the strategy that will get the mayor of Malmö, Ilmar Reepalu reelected:

Pandering to Islamists and left-wing extremists who either deny the Holocaust or equate Israel with Hitler's Third Reich. It is a brave new world.

Or maybe Reepalu is just a coward.

Shoe throwing attack in Stockholm

Indeed the Swedish autonomous left is at it again with their Islamist neo-buddies. This time the Israeli ambassador was at the receiving end of what apparently was a planned attack. The attacks on supporters of Israel in particular and on people dissenting with the radical left in general are part of a disturbing trend in Sweden and the rest of Europe. When Islamists murder or attack people, the established news media in Sweden stay silent, even when the attacks take place at home. The political left also does not protest the violence of their autonomous friends, on the contrary they defend it as excusable excesses. The established radical left in Sweden is in a symbiotic relationship with these perpetrators of political violence, just as the basque terrorists of ETA were in cahoots with Herri Batasuna, and IRA was in cahoots with Sinn Fein. This relationship is not exposed because a majority of Swedish journalists belong to the radical left.

Pro-israeli demonstration attacked by mob in Sweden

A pro-Israeli demonstration in Malmö, Sweden on the 25th of January was attacked by a mob consisting mostly of immigrants of Middle-Eastern origin. The counter demonstrators, who did not have a permit, threw eggs and bottles at the peaceful pro-Israeli demonstration. Meanwhile the police stood idly by and instead asked the pro-Israeli demonstrators to leave. This is Sweden 2009. Also in Malmö a few days before the demonstration, a 26-year old homosexual man was murdered. The alleged killers are Islamists of Kosovar extraction.

I wonder when the meeting was where it was decided that we should allow Islamists to come to our country and destroy freedom of speech, because I missed it! Also, if the police has decided that freedom of speech is not worth defending, I might as well stop paying taxes.
