The rioting continues in Malmö

Media in other parts of the world have now picked up on the rioting in Malmö. Verdens Gang in Norway,Euronews,Fox News,BBC, and Danish Jyllandsposten have news articles about the subject. Unfortunately none of the above articles contain any in depth analysis explaining why the rioting occurs in Malmö. That's a shame.

Back in the 60s Malmö was a leading center for shipbuilding. The city was growing rapidly with immigration from southern Europe and other parts of Sweden providing recruits for the city's rapidly growing work force. But as competition from shipyards in Japan and Korea became too stiff, the shipbuilders were forced to lay off most of the workers although not before the national government squandered billions on a hairbrained scheme which consisted of buying the dockyards industrial output. Needless to say this was a costly disaster.

As unemployment rose, the city's population actually shrunk, although it still remained Sweden's third largest. Since there were no jobs, apartments were easily available, especially in outlying areas like Rosengård which originally had been designed to house dockyard workers. Instead the cheap housing in Rosengård now attracted immigrants from the Middle East claiming refugee status.

As it turned out these new immigrants were not as willing to integrate into Swedish society as the ones that preceded them, instead they preferred to recreate a piece of the Middle East in Scania, complete with basement mosques preaching wahabism and moral guardians cautioning women to wear the abaya.

Why was this allowed to happen? One of the main reasons was the consensus that any debate regarding problems caused by immigration equaled racism. Another cause was the willingness of the Swedish government to provide generous benefits to jobless immigrants. Generous benefits meant that the poorly educated newcomers lacked the motivation to move where they could actually find the low-paying jobs that they were qualified for. Another problem was the fact that most of the immigrants from the Middle East also lacked the skills needed to succeed in a workplace where the industrial worker was replaced by the knowledge worker. Generous immigration laws combined with generous benefits helped create a Muslim underclass in Malmö, which by far and large voted for the social democrats that paid them their allowance.

The fact is that, due to the symbiotic relationship described above, the demonstrations and the rioting have the tacit support of the leftist dominated municipal authorities who as usual are trying to curry favor with the city's ever-growing Muslim population. Citing security concerns they closed the Davis Cup tie to the public even though local police said they were perfectly capable of maintaining order.

Now that Malmö has broken off diplomatic relations with Israel, can we also expect sharia laws any time soon? Is it not time that we ban ungodly activities such as sex ed, pubs, the teaching of Darwinism and allowing women to leave their houses without a close male relative escorting them? And don't forget music, that is bad too, the only sound that should be heard is the muezzin calling the faithful to prayer.
